This knowledge base aims to share and discuss the distinctions between the various Plesk Editions. Each edition is characterized by features that cater to specific user groups and is defined by its license key.
Plesk Web Admin Edition
Designed for IT Sysadmins/Administrators and Web Administrators.
This edition facilitates basic management of straightforward websites and domains, lacking advanced tools and features, as well as eliminating service provider overheads related to the management of different customers, reseller partnerships, and customized subscription plans.
Plesk Web Admin allows for the creation of up to 10 domains within a single installation.
Plesk Web Pro Edition
Aimed at Web Professionals requiring comprehensive flexibility to design, secure, and operate highly optimized and tailored websites. It includes all features, such as the complete WordPress Toolkit, to manage and automate projects on a large scale. This group of Web Professionals typically provides design, development, and deployment services for websites from the ground up.
Plesk Web Pro edition permits the creation of up to 30 domains in one environment.
Plesk Web Host Edition
Specifically tailored for Web Hosters to customize, provision, and oversee hosting businesses. It offers maximum flexibility, access to domain management tools, and the full WordPress Toolkit to support a multi-tenant, “install anything” business model.
Plesk Web Host edition allows for the hosting of an unlimited number of domains on a single installation.
Notes:
Plesk Web Admin SE - This edition is similar to the standard Web Admin Edition but is available only on select Clouds, and Exabytes does not provide this license.
The Web Admin Edition/SE enables a 'Power User' view only. Licenses for Web Pro Edition and Web Host Edition allow access to both 'Power User' and 'Service Provider' views.
Q&A:
1. Does Plesk support PostgreSQL / MSSQL?
Yes, both services can be installed on a Plesk server, but their management from the Plesk portal is disabled for the Plesk Web Admin license, which includes management modules.
There are two ways to make a PostgreSQL server available:
- Purchase the Plesk Developer Pack or Power Pack for Web Admin edition using the links below:

- Upgrade from a Web Admin license to either a Web Host or Web Pro license

Please consult with the Exabytes sales or billing team regarding the pricing for the developers/power packs and Plesk licenses.
2. Will upgrading the Plesk license cause any downtime or data loss?
No, the license upgrade will not result in any downtime or data loss. There is also no need to reinstall Plesk. The license upgrade process can be completed in just a minute by updating the license key from the Plesk control panel. This process will be handled by the technical team.
