Before user transfer to Plesk, user need to back up the current wordpress site. Below is the step to back up the current WordPress Site.


1. Log in to your current WordPress site.


2. Click "Tools" and click "Export" from the menu.



3. Select the "All Content" option, then click "Download Export File." This will create a backup file of all of your posts, pages, and also your comment and allow you to save this content to your own computer.



Other steps


Step 1:


Login to your WordPress site


 Firstly, login into wordpress admin area, which more than likely be at a URL similar to https://yourdomain.com/wp-admin




Step 2:


Choose 'Plugins", then 'Add New'


 Once user have logged in to the admin area, navigate to the menu on the left hand side of the screen, and choose on the 'Plugins', then 'Add New' from the drop down menu






Step 3:


Install 'UpdraftPlus WordPress Backup Plugin'


Next, user need to install a plugin called 'UpdraftPlus WordPress Backup Plugin'. To do this, user can enter the plugin name into the plugin search that show in top right of field. When user have found the plugin, simply click the button that labelled 'Install Now' to install it.



Step 4:


Locate 'UpdatePlus WordPress Backup Plugin'


When plugin has completed installed, user will need to activate it. Once activated, return to the plugin page and locate the plugin 'UpdraftPlus WordPress Backup Plugin' from the list of plugins. Once it located, click on the link reading 'Settings'.




Step 5:


Back up the site


 User may need to click the button that laballed 'Back Up Now' to start begin backing up the site. This will open a dialog window, simply click the button 'Back Up Now' to proceed with the back up.




Step 6:


Download the backed up files


Once user backed up completely, click on the tab labelled 'Existing Backups'. Next, click on the buttons labelled 'Database', 'Plugins', 'Themes', 'Uploads' and 'Other'. Doing this will allow user to download them to own PC / local device.




Install the new wordpress site on Plesk


Step 1: Firstly,  user need to log in to your Plesk control panel and select Domains from the hosting services menu on the left. 




Step 2: Select Manage in Customer Panel for the relevant domain.


 



Step 3: Select Applications from the column on the right.


 Step 4: Select the WordPress version that user would like to use and click install. If want for latest version, user just need to click install.



Step 5: Once the installation has been completed, yo will be taken to the CMS management screen. From there user may view the login credentials. Plesk will automatically assigns a random username and password to new installs.

Export the WordPress Site



Step 1:


Log in to administrative interface of existing WordPress site with administrator credentials. When you are logged in as "administrator", the WordPress Dashboard is visible.


Step 2:


Click the "Tools" link in the left navigation bar in the Dashboard.


Step 3:


Click the "Export" link, and then click the "All Content" option. The WordPress site is exported as an XML file. The XML file content, widgets, posts and pages of the WordPress site.


Step 4:


Click the "Download Export File" link to download and save the XML file. Save the file to your hard drive.




Import the WordPress Content


Step 1: 


Log in to the Plesk control panel with your administrative user account and password. Click the "Home" link in the left navigation pane to open the Home screen. Click the domain name for the domain where the WordPress site will be imported.


Step 2: 


Click the "Application Vault" icon in the main screen for the domain, and then click "Add New Application." Click the radio button next to the "WordPress" option, and then click the "Install" link. The WordPress Application Configuration page opens. You must create a new instance of WordPress in order to import existing content from your exported site.


Step 3: 


Click the "Other" radio button in the Installation Preferences section, and then type a name for the new installation directory into the input box. Leave the default database name and other default options intact. The default "Administrator ID" will be "admin." you can change this to another user ID, if desired.


Step 4: 


Type an administrator password into the "Administrator Password" input box. Retype the administrator password, and then type a valid email address for the administrative emails. Type a title into the "Weblog Title" input box.


Step 5: 


Click the “Install” button. A new instance of WordPress is deployed through the Plesk control panel. A notification message displays indicating that the WordPress site has been created. The notification message includes a link labeled “Administrative Interface.”


Step 6: 


Click the "OK" button. The WordPress site is installed using the Plesk control panel and a "Success" message appears.


Step 7: 


Open the WordPress site's administrative interface. The URL to the administrative interface is usually the URL to the WordPress site plus the “/wp-admin/ folder. For example, if your site is located at "mydomain.com/wordpress", the administrative interface is located at "mydomain.com/wordpress/wp-admin/." Bookmark this administrative interface URL for easy access.


Step 8:


Log in to the site with the user ID “admin” and the password you assigned when creating the site. The WordPress Dashboard displays.


Step 9:


Click the “Tools” option in the left navigation panel of the Dashboard, and then click the “Import” link. Click “WordPress" from the list of platforms. A prompt to install the import plugin opens.


Step 10:


Click the “Install” button to download and install the import plugin. Click the “Activate Plugin & Run Importer” option.


Step 11: 


Click the “Choose File” option. A file selection window opens. Locate the exported XML file you saved on your computer.


Step 12: 


Click the “Upload File and Import” option. The XML file is loaded and imported. All content from the exported WordPress site is now available in the new Plesk deployment.
